Trey Anastasio on Neil Young:
Traditional concepts of rhythm and keys are great, but music is like a giant ocean. It’s a big, furious place, and there are a lot of trenches that haven’t been explored. Neil is still blazing a trail for people who are younger than him, reminding us you can break artistic ground.
Neil Young is #17 on Rolling Stone’s new Greatest Guitarists of All Time list. Eight years ago, the last time Rolling Stone made such a list, Trey was #73 and Neil was #83. But now Trey just gets to say something nice about Neil. What do I know? I just love them both. And hey, Rolling Stone is still around. Hooray for magazines. Whatever shall we do when they are gone?
Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks performed “Tigers,” “Senator,” and a couple other songs off of Mirror Traffic on a New York City rooftop for Pitchfork.

The Frizz said I should listen to Centro-Matic more. Luckily Will Johnson has made available a free sampler album with two-dozen songs linked from the Centro-Matic website:
People often ask what Centro-matic or South San Gabriel album to start with. There’s no easy answer to this, so we are giving away a couple of songs from each album spanning the 15 years the band has been making music together. Please share this with your friends.
