On Interpreting Predictions of Congressional Elections
Tom Holbrook did a little analysis of public opinion and congressional election outcomes which for some reason rubbed Charlie Cook the wrong way. I wrote a comment on Political Wire, but it was deleted. Anyways here goes:
@ charlie cook, it seems that you read Goddard’s spin on (my colleague) Holbrook’s blog post and not the actual post. He conducted a simple analysis of how two aspects of public opinion might relate to congressional outcomes and concluded with “The picture is still fuzzy, but Cook is right to suggest that current conditions do not augur well for the Democrats.” Perhaps he was picking apart what you wrote, but it’s hard to see this as “attacking” what you wrote.
I wonder why the comment was deleted? It still lives on at Disqus.
UPDATE: Holbrook comments: “At least someone is reading my blog!”
